The Deaconess’ Cocktail Party, Friday 15th May 2009

I was delighted to start the year’s Corporation events with the Deaconess’ Cocktail party, kindly hosted at the home of Lochcarron’s Alistair and Eileen Buchan in Gattonside. SBMC Golf Tournament 2008

This year a rearranged tournament was held on the morning of the Michaelmas Ball, at Monksford House by kind permission of Paul Rooney. On a beautiful, fresh and sunny winter morning 12 members and guests played around the interesting and challenging nine hole course using Stableford rules. Michaelmas Dinner - 31st October 2008

Our annual dinner was once again held at the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel, where 122 members and guests enjoyed a fine dinner and excellent speeches. AGM - George and Abbotsford Hotel, 31st October 2008

The AGM was held in the George and Abbotsford Hotel on 31st October. The Deaconess’s Tennis and Croquet Challenge

The inaugural tennis and croquet tournament was held at Pavilion at the end of August. Members and their families, guests and a number of past Deacons enjoyed Pimms and afternoon tea while participating or enjoying the afternoon sport. The croquet was won by Martin Baird. Cricket, SBMC v Yorkshire Manufacturers, June 2008

After last year's glorious victory away in Ilkley, the Scottish contingent of the SBMC were perhaps over confident going into this match which was held at St Boswells cricket club. The Michaelmas Ball - Border Event

The final event of the Corporation calendar, the Michaelmas Ball was held on Friday 30th November at the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel. 130 guests attended what was described later as " a grand night".
